OPENING



The meeting opened at 6:30pm and the Sergeant at Arms, Esther Chandy, immediately caught the attention of the audience with a quote - “Amateurs practise until they get it right. Professionals practise until they can’t get it wrong.”



PRESIDENT’S ADDRESS



The President, Cherian Thomas, reiterated the message of the theme by narrating a touching story of a downtrodden lad whose practice at football, helped him win a crucial match for his college team.



TOASTMASTER OF THE DAY



As Toastmaster of the Day, Raveendra Babu Mandava, stressed the importance of practice until it becomes a subconscious task, no longer requiring conscious effort, such as brushing teeth or buttoning a shirt. He mentioned that it was with this aim in mind that Toastmasters was started by Dr. Smedley.

Table topics was conducted by the sprightly Sudipto Ghosh, who kept the speakers and audience engaged and entertained with imaginative topics and role plays.

Hemant Narang delivered project 2 – Organize your Speech – from the Competent Communicator manual, titled ‘You are what you are surrounded by.’



Ratan Shetty delivered an advanced project, ACB4 – A Dramatic Talk – from the Advanced Communication manual.



EVALUATIONS



The General Evaluator, Sapna Chandiramani, gave candid feedback and urged the club and speakers to avoid gender bias in the choice of words and themes.

Abhishek’s speech was evaluated by Prakash Tamhankar.

Hemant’s speech was evaluated by Richard D’Souza.

Ratan’s speech was evaluated by Godfrey Soans.
