OPENING

The meeting opened on the dot at 6:30pm with a crisp address by the Sergeant at Arms, Esther Chandy. She introduced the theme and linked it to the most popular word of 2012 - truthiness, which is something that feels right though it is not supported by fact.

INSTALLATION OF CLUB OFFICERS FOR THE NEW TERM JAN-JUNE 2016

The club officers for the new term were formally installed into their new roles by the installation officer, Toastmaster John-Bosco Abraham. He explained the philosophy behind the short term of six months, which is long enough to learn leadership and short enough to allow other members an opportunity to learn it.

PRESIDENT’S ADDRESS

The secretary, Raghunandan Damle, read the minutes of the previous meeting and these were passed.

As the outgoing President, Cherian Thomas summarized the tangible achievements of the previous term as follows:

  • Processes established for booking speech slots, etc through the revamped website.
  • Website revamped: this is the first impression that a person searching online gets.
  • Finance – transparency introduced by publishing accounts on the website. Relations with the bank regularised.
  • Minutes of Meetings upgraded in quality and timeliness.
  • Speechcraft – 30 speechcraft students graduated in the previous term.
  • TAG record books printed, which can be used to record the meetings for the next five years.
  • Membership of the club grew from 56 members to 71 members, making us the largest club in Bangalore.
As the incoming President, Cherian Thomas continued his address to outline the goals for the new term, as follows:

  • More improvements to the website
  • Record and publicize the achievements of members of the club
  • Stabilize finances
  • Have a gala 1000th meeting
In conclusion he introduced the theme for the new term - EXPERIENCE THE CHANGE.

TOASTMASTER OF THE DAY

Founder member, Toastmaster Robinson D’Souza, wished the audience on the occasion of Makara Sankranti and took the audience on a trip down memory lane to the first meeting of the club held in the same hall. He read out a testimonial from a Toastmaster and later introduced the General Evaluator, who introduced the TAG team.
