OPENING
The first meeting of the new term coincided with New Year’s
Day and was opened sharp on time at 6:30 pm by the sagacious new lady Sergeant at
Arms, Esther Chandy. She gave her own insight into why New Year resolutions are
no longer taken seriously and explained how measuring one’s success through Key
Performance Indicators can help.
PRESIDENT’S
ADDRESS
The presiding officer for the day, our new VP Education - Prakash Tamhankar, called the meeting to order, welcomed the guests and reinforced the
theme of the day by narrating a touching story of a small act of kindness that
saved the life of a boy called Kyle.

OF THE DAY
The youthful and sweet newbie to our club, Vineeth R,
charmed the audience with a farce about oversleeping on New Year’s Day and
reminded people of the importance of helping others.

enthusiasm and thoroughness. She presented engaging topics in coloured
envelopes along with toffees.

SPEECHES
1. Guest
speaker Sonu from CMS Toastmasters Club delivered project 8 from the Competent
Communicator manual. Her speech was titled ‘TM Express’ and it took the
audience on a ghostly trail into the mystery of Bhangarh fort.
2. Praveen Kumar broke the ice by delivering project 1 (The Ice Breaker) from the
Competent Communicator manual, titled ‘Journey’.
3 3. Varun Dev delivered a Technical Briefing – P1 from the Advanced Communications manual,
titled ‘The Mix’, which gave his listeners a quick introduction to music
mixing. He also played a few of his own music mixes on a boombox, which had the
audience grooving to his tunes.
EVALUATIONS
As General Evaluator for the day, Richard D'Souza, assisted
by his TAG team, gave a keen evaluation of the entire meeting peppered with
nuggets of wisdom. He stressed the message that leadership is not a position but
action.
